About Our Campaign
The Committee to Elect Maicol Rivera Torres is a volunteer-driven, community-first campaign for the Pontiac City School District Board of Education.
Our mission
Students first, families first, Pontiac first
We exist to make sure every decision at the board table starts with one question: how does this help Pontiac students?
This campaign began with conversations at kitchen tables, church basements, small businesses, and school parking lots. Parents told us the same things again and again: they want safe schools, strong reading and math instruction, real career pathways, and a district that answers the phone when families call.
Maicol Rivera is a Pontiac resident, entrepreneur, and founder of Cultural Connect Inc. Through years of helping neighbors access technology, workforce training, and community resources, he has seen firsthand what happens when families are left out of the process — and what becomes possible when they are invited in.
We are not funded by a political machine. We are organized by neighbors who believe Pontiac students deserve leadership that listens first, plans carefully, and reports back honestly.

Support safe buildings, mental-health supports, anti-bullying practices, and classrooms where every student feels they belong.

Expand trades, technology, AI literacy, internships, and dual-enrollment so graduates leave with a credential, a plan, or a job offer.
Strengthen family partnership
Hold accessible meetings, publish understandable information, and provide bilingual communication so parents can participate fully.
Practice responsible stewardship
Ask hard questions about budgets and contracts so dollars reach classrooms, and support staff recruitment and retention.
Turn out informed voters
Help residents — especially first-time and youth voters — confirm eligibility, register, and vote in the November 3, 2026 election.

How we are organized
A volunteer-led team with clear roles
The campaign is run by the Committee to Elect Maicol Rivera Torres. Volunteers lead the day-to-day work, coordinated through the teams below.
Candidate and committee
Maicol Rivera sets the platform and speaks for the campaign. The committee handles compliance, recordkeeping, and required campaign-finance reporting.
Community outreach
Volunteers host listening sessions, attend community events, knock doors, and bring what they hear back into the platform.
Voter education
This team builds the first-time voter guide, district eligibility tools, deadline reminders, and precinct information available on this site.
Digital and communications
Maintains the website, publishes updates and events, answers messages, and keeps every public page available in English and Spanish.
Endorsements and coalitions
Collects and reviews endorsements from residents, parents, educators, faith leaders, and local business owners before they are published.
Operations and yard signs
Coordinates sign requests, deliveries, materials, and event logistics so volunteers have what they need on the ground.
