Pontiac Public Voice

Moderation, privacy and integrity

These standards are published so anyone can hold this platform to them. Moderation is based on conduct and content rules — never on whether a comment agrees with the proposal.

Moderation standards

What is removed, and what stays

  • Disagreement is welcome

Criticism of the proposal, of the campaign or of the candidate is allowed. Comments are never removed, hidden or reordered because of the viewpoint they express.

  • Threats and violence

Threats of violence or harm to any person are removed and may be reported to appropriate authorities.

  • Targeted harassment

Attacks aimed at an individual — including students, employees and volunteers — rather than at the substance of the proposal are removed.

  • Spam and commercial promotion

Unrelated advertising, link stuffing and automated submissions are removed.

  • Duplicate submissions

Repeated identical submissions are consolidated so the record is readable.

  • Personal information

Email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses and similar contact details are removed from public display.

  • Protected student information

Student records, disability and special-education details, and other protected student information are removed from public display and routed to a private pathway.

  • Protected personnel and confidential matters

Personnel discipline records, confidential complaints, privileged legal information and security-sensitive details are removed from public display.

  • Explicit content

Sexually explicit or obscene material is removed.

Every moderation action is recorded in an internal audit log with the action, category and reason. Original submissions are never silently edited: a participant's substantive position cannot be changed by an administrator, and any correction creates a separate audit event.

Privacy

What is never published

  • Email addresses and phone numbers
  • IP addresses, device identifiers and browser fingerprints — these are not collected for publication
  • Student records and any student disability or special-education information
  • Protected personnel information
  • Confidential complaints
  • Security-sensitive or legally privileged information
  • Internal moderation notes

If your concern involves a specific student, a specific employee or a confidential matter, please use the private pathway instead of a public form: riveramaicol@maicolcomputerservice.com. Public forms warn you before submitting when they detect that kind of detail.

Integrity

How responses are screened

  • All submissions are validated on the server, not just in the browser.
  • Rate limits and automated bot protection apply to every public form.
  • Duplicate responses to the same proposal are detected and consolidated.
  • Every submission is timestamped, and administrative actions are written to an audit log.
  • Original submissions are immutable — a participant's substantive position cannot be edited by an administrator, and any correction creates a separate audit event.

Responses are subject to automated integrity and duplicate-response screening.

This platform does not claim one person, one vote, because it does not verify identity. Results are advisory community input.

Relationship is optional and self-reported. It is not proof of identity, residency or legal eligibility, and participants are not described as verified registered voters.

AI assistance

What AI may and may not do here

AI may

  • Write plain-language summaries, clearly labelled as summaries
  • Group feedback into themes and flag likely duplicate questions
  • Explain terminology and help you find supporting documents

AI may never

  • Change anyone's response, invent sources or fabricate public sentiment
  • Remove criticism because it is unfavourable
  • Present legal conclusions as settled, or expose confidential data
  • Make a Board decision, or describe community polling as an official vote

Any AI-written summary of community feedback is labelled “AI-assisted summary based on submitted community feedback,” with the underlying public comments available to read.
